Pre-Christmas time, online late at night, about to start: the most popular McDonald’s competition “Monopoly”. We are there too, cheering it on before it goes live and pressing the start button just in time for one of our longest-standing customers to launch his most successful customer campaign. Because for us, the most important thing is that everything works well. The cloud infrastructure under the campaign has to work reliably when millions of enthusiastic McDonald’s customers enter their data and play along – highly scalable, secure and flexible.

Different hands work together to make such a large campaign work. Closely coordinated with the McDonald’s team and in particular with Ray Sono, our creative partner: since 2015, Ray Sono has been responsible for the consulting, conception, design, development and ongoing support of Germany’s widest-reaching digital campaign “McDonald’s Monopoly” and other McDonald’s websites, portals and campaigns.

The challenges

High load and data protection

Complex online campaigns run the risk of collapsing under high loads. Because millions of users can quickly access or enter their data at the same time. In addition, customer data is particularly susceptible to security risks in such situations and must therefore be specially protected.​

Media discontinuities

The initial situation was a heterogeneous IT architecture for web applications that had grown over several years and was characterised by numerous media discontinuities.
